8 Ways to Take Better Care of Yourself
Now more than ever, we need to be checking up on ourselves. Nowadays, we don’t always have someone around to remind us to spend time away from our work and to focus on the things that make us feel calm and relaxed.
Whether you’re spending endless hours in front of your computer screen or interacting with different kinds of people all day, sometimes you just need a break.
Sometimes, it’s just not your responsibility to fix everyone else’s mistakes.
Sometimes, you just don’t need to reply to that email.
Sometimes, you just have to order the Venti at Starbucks.
Remember, you can only do your best work if you have the energy to do it. If you want to improve your mental and physical wellbeing in the middle of your busy life, making consistent efforts is the best way to see results.
Here are eight of our favorite ways that we take care of ourselves:
Headspace - a meditation app to guide you through practices of mindfulness; helping you to reduce stress, improve sleep, increase your focus, and help you develop many more healthy physical and mental habits.
The 5 Minute Journal - a simple, daily journal to help you shift to a more positive outlook on life. This gratitude journaling is designed to make you focus on the good.
Put down your phone - challenge yourself to be more present in the moment, and strengthen your relationships with people, not social media. Need some help with this? Try putting your phone on airplane mode for a few hours so you don’t get distracted by the never-ending notifications.
Get back into your skincare routine - create an at-home spa by treating yourself to an extra 5 or 10 minutes to pull out all the bells and whistles… or maybe just the face mask that’s been sitting in the cabinet. Happy and healthy skin is bound to make anyone feel good.
Try something new - switch up your routine, maybe tap into your creative side or try a new workout. The best way to grow is to do something you have never done before.
Get some coffee and go for a morning walk - try leaving your phone behind so you can be with your thoughts.
Grab a great book - while we love our business and self improvement books, switching it up by diving into fiction is always a nice getaway. (We just finished Little Fires Everywhere!)
Or, find a new series to watch - If you just need a minute to discover a new tv show there is no judgement here, girl. If reading isn’t your jam, Little Fires Everywhere is also on Hulu!
It’s so important to make sure you are taking care of yourself everyday. We know that it isn’t always easy to carve out time in your busy schedule to work on yourself. In the long run, focusing on your physical, mental, and spiritual stability is going to make each jam-packed day seem a little less stressful.
